MATTHIAS BOLZ

"DRESDEN - ASIEN / ASIEN - DRESDEN"(“DRESDEN – ASIA / ASIA – DRESDEN“)

For four years now life and work of Matthias Bolz are characterised by several months long stays in Southeast Asia. In an impressive series of works he deals now for the first time with his personal experiences and views as a European and German in particular.
His works speak about the dealing with the past and the simultaneous opening for the new, modern, fast, and western. They speak about the peaceful coexistence of Buddhism, Islamism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Catholicism and others, just as about the complicated mental diversity behind the Asian kindness, to what comes quite near the Laotian proverb: “The Vietnamese plant rice, the Khmer watch, and the Laotians listen how it grows”.

Exhibition: from 21st September to 3rd November 2007
Opening on 20th September, 7.30 p.m.

The artist himself speaks about his works.
A catalogue will be published.
